![]() These lasers in particular are a huge hit on the secondary models. But if you're paying a flat fee, or if the money isn't important to you, and you're not in too much of a rush, the Soprano Titanium could be a really good choice for someone with a low pain tolerance.Candela lasers are one of my top recommendations. Assuming it costs the same where you are, the GentleMax Pro seems like it's going to be a better value for your dollar, as you might be done in many fewer sessions. On the otherhand, nearly everyone agrees that the Soprano Titanium is very low-pain, and it does seem like most people do see decent progress, even if it takes longer. Nearly everyone on the GentleMaxPro seems to get good and fast results, and that's a really big plus. Ultimately, though, I want my results fast because I'm so tired of having beard shadow, and I'd rather put up a little extra pain in order to get better reduction.īased on feedback from others, it looks like your particular technician can matter as much as the machine you use, but my personal experiences do seem to line up with what I've seen from others on here and elsewhere on reddit. Plus, since the power was no longer increasing, as I lost hair the pain was only going to go down, even though it was already very low on the pain scale. I could see there was progress being made, even if it was a little slower than I wanted, and it was not an especially unpleasant experience. If I were doing this for shaving convenience, I'd probably not have switched. The third session they'd turned it up to the maximum power (I don't know if it's the maximum of the machine or that they're allowed to use at the clinic), and at this point I did see better reduction-at that point I had at least 20%, maybe 30% total reduction. After the first two sessions I saw virtually no results at all-I could see a small amount of thinning on my cheeks, but I'd guess I had maybe 10% reduction at best. As you can imagine, the fact I decided to switch away from this one is because I wasn't entirely happy with the results. I've only used this one on my face, and I did three sessions of it on my face before switching. It uses some kind of gel as a medium between your skin and the laser, which I think might be part of the reduced pain, but it also means the smoke from your burning hair doesn't bother you like with the GentleMax Pro. Even on my face, the most painful part of the body to treat, it was less painful than the GentleMax Pro was on nearly any part of the body. At the maximum settings I found it to be moderately uncomfortable, but it was still much less painful than the GentleMax Pro. Instead of a place, shoot, lift pattern, this laser is held against your skin and swiped across the surface in lines. It also takes noticeably longer, which isn't a big deal, but it does mean you're suffering more for a longer period of time. Overall, I'd give it a big thumbs up, but if you're really sensitive to pain, it might not be the best choice. I've cried when getting my face/neck area done, and there was one particularly bad session on my lower body that also made me cry (not the first one, but one of the ones where they'd turned up the power). ![]() The downside is that this laser is very painful. Areas treated with the Yag laser (darker areas of skin-areas near the genitals/anus, areola, and possibly the armpits) have seen some reduction, but probably less than 50%. Areas treated with the Alex laser are looking great, with very little hair left-except maybe the armpit, which is improved but not as dramatically as the rest. ![]() ![]() However, I will note that there's a pretty obvious difference in reduction between the areas treated with the Alex laser and the Yag laser. It's not perfect yet, but I'd guess I have about 90% reduction from where I started on most areas. I've had this over my entire body, and after 5 sessions I've had quite good results. After a session with this laser, my skin is always red (although this goes away fast), and I will smell like burning hair until I take a shower. It has two laser types, one for lighter skin and one for darker skin (Alex and Yag). With this laser, it has a small target area, and the technician will put the head of the laser on a small section of your body at a time, shooting you with the laser, then lifting it up, shifting it a bit further along in a row, and shooting you again. Note I'm a trans woman with light skin and dark hair, so ymmv. Hi everyone! I hadn't seen a detailed comparison of the two before, and I wanted to give people a bit of a quick review of the two and how I personally experienced them.
